LEGAL NOTICE
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON RECOMMENDATIONSTO ADD LAND TO AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS 1 AND 2

Each year in March, St. Lawrence County accepts requests from property owners to add land to Agricultural Districts 1 and 2. This year, the County received the following requests:
1. One 1.1 acre parcel at 124 CR 16 in the Town of Dekalb
2. Three parcels totaling 123.3 acres at and around 900 Edwards Road in the Town of Pitcairn
3. One 104 acre parcel at 2935 CR 55 in the Town of Brasher
4. One 9.9 acre parcel off Wilson Road in the Town of Hopkinton
5. One 42.1 acre parcel off Nation Road in the Town of Louisville
6. One 30.8 acre parcel located at 113 and 119 Hough Road in the Town of Norfolk
7. One 39.1 acre parcel located off Butternut Ridge Road in the Town of Pierrepont
8. Two parcels totaling 67.2 acres at 120 Bagdad Road in the Town of Potsdam

The County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board reviewed these requests at its meeting on April 5th and is recommending the Board of Legislators accept these additions to Ag Districts 1 and 2. As part of the review process, St. Lawrence County will hold a public hearing to give the public the opportunity to comment on these recommended additions. The public hearing will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in the County Planning Office, located on the 2nd floor of the Public Safety Complex at 49 ½ Court Street in Canton.
After the April 19th public hearing, the Board of Legislators will adopt a resolution to either accept or reject these recommendations at its June 4th meeting. This resolution will then be forwarded to the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Ag and Markets for certification. SPECIAL MEETING

The Town Board of the Town of Hopkinton will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday, April 26, 2018,at 6:30 p.m. at the Hopkinton Town Hall. This meeting will be to vote on Proposed Local Law 2 0f 2018 Entitled “Wind Energy Facilities Law of Hopkinton, New York”. There will be no public comment. The meeting is open to the public.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to Resolution of the Hopkinton Town Board, St. Lawrence County, New York; and in compliance with Section 1660 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, all Town Highways in the Town of Hopkinton will be temporarily closed to all vehicles having gross weight in excess of five tons per axle, upon erection of signs and will remain in effect until the authorized removal of the closing signs.

The Township of Hopkinton, NY is the fifth town of the first ten towns in St. Lawrence Co. The first settlers came in 1802. The Township is located in the Southeast corner of St. Law. Co., in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It has an elevation of 1,273 feet. On the East side it borders Franklin County and on the south side it borders Piercefield. This last section of the township use to be referred to as the “south woods”.

Hopkinton is well known for its friendly citizens and community minded activities. Booklets of a self-guided car tour of the Historical parts of Hopkinton are available upon request from the Historian’s office. In the last ten years thousands of people come to the annual Summer Fest the third weekend in July. Music, games for kids and entertainment, Food can be purchased at a reasonable rate.
